Important Information Regarding Power Dysfunctions Robot Combat Event Sign-Ups

We’ve noticed some recurring issues and misunderstandings regarding the sign-up process for Power Dysfunctions robot combat events, as well as the rules introduced at the beginning of 2025. To ensure clarity and a smooth experience for everyone, we’d like to outline the procedures.

The Importance of Event Sign-Ups

As per the unified UK Robot Combat rules for 2025 and Power Dysfunctions’ established procedures, all roboteers are required to sign up in advance to participate in our events. This is a standard practice across the vast majority of LEGO events nationwide, including robot combat and brick display shows like Concorde, STEAM, and BBS.

Pre-registration is crucial for several reasons:

  • It allows event organizers to accurately gauge attendance numbers.
  • It enables us to determine the necessary number of tables and finalize the floorplan.
  • Crucially, for our robot combat events, it allows us to schedule fights and tournaments effectively based on the confirmed number of participants.

Organizing an event requires a significant amount of preparation and coordination, often spanning many hours of unpaid work by one or 2 people who volunteer’s their time to make events what they are. Therefore, adhering to the sign-up requirement and its associated deadlines is essential to avoid disrupting the extensive planning and preparation already undertaken.

Sign-Up Process and Deadlines

Power Dysfunctions typically opens sign-ups for our robot combat events one month before the show date, and the sign-up form remains open for approximately one week. Once this period closes, no further sign-ups will be accepted. We widely advertise when sign-ups open on this group, our public Facebook page, and our website.

Should a registered roboteer need to withdraw, a slot will become available. In such cases, the slot will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis to individuals who have contacted either Power Dysfunctions or me directly to be added to our back-up list.

Please do not purchase tickets, arrange accommodations (hotels/Airbnbs), or book transport until you have received a formal invitation via email. Your place in an event is not confirmed until you have successfully completed the sign-up form and received this official invitation.

We warmly welcome all members of the community, regardless of age, sex, sexuality, gender, gender identity, or race, to sign up for our events. However, it is imperative that all participants follow our established procedures regarding sign-up within the clearly stated timeframes advertised on our Facebook posts and website.
