Witness the mayhem as the ultimate LEGO® robot showdown returns in 2025.
What Is LEGO® Robot Combat?
LEGO® Robot Combat is much like the Robot Wars® in the UK or BattleBots® in the US. They are small remote controlled robots made entirely our of LEGO® bricks that fight in an arena. They come in all shapes and sizes, most have various type of weapons from lifters and grabbers to vertical and horizontal spinners. Much like their metal heavyweight counterparts, the idea of the game is to knock your opponent out of the match by either disabling their robot, pushing them into the pit or flipping them out of the arena. The beauty of LEGO® combat is their relative safety and low power meaning they are safe for children to build and fight. Another advantage is that because they are made from LEGO® parts, robots can be smashed apart far easier which makes LEGO® Robot Combat a thrilling spectacle for both competitors and audience alike. Just like Robot Wars® and BattleBots®, LEGO® robots are restricted by a set of rules to ensure a fair competition and maintain safety for competitors and the public.
Check out the video below for a taster of what our robot combat events are like.
What are the rules?
For heavyweight robots the rules are the following:
- The basic rules are that LEGO® Combat Robots must weigh between 1000 grams and 1500 gram depending on type of robot and it’s power source (robots can weigh less, these values are the maximum allowed).
- Robots must be made from official, unmodified LEGO® parts only (some exceptions do apply).
- Robots are allowed a maximum of 2 buggy motors for their weapon.
- Robots are not allowed to use metal parts as the contact patch of their weapon, even if those metal parts are official LEGO® parts.
- Use of stickers are permitted but must be cut along the joins of LEGO® parts.
For Circuit Cube robots the rules are the following:
- Robots must fit within a 16x16x16 stud cube.
- Robots must be a maximum of 250 grams in weight.
- All electrical components must be official Circuit Cube parts, (hub and motors).
- All other parts must be official, unmodified LEGO® parts.
- You may use elastic bands and/or string for weapon operation but these cannot be used for armour or entanglement.
Can anyone join in?
Yes, anyone can join our LEGO® Robot Combat fights providing they pre-register for an event on our website, their robots comply with the rules and are checked by a match official before entering the arena. There are no age, height or gender restrictions placed on competitors. If you are old enough to build a robot and hold a controller, you can join our events. Roboteers under the age of 18 must be supervised at our events by a parent or legal guardian at all times.
How do I join?
The best way to join is to come along to one of our events and speak to our roboteers about their robot. They will be happy to show you their robots and you may be able to drive someone’s robot between fight sessions (though this is not guaranteed). If LEGO® Robot Combat is something you fancy doing, join our community and get access to our members only Facebook Group and Discord server where you can get expert advice from both roboteers and our match officials who can help you design and build your first robot.
